SN-95s Vs. Fox
Hey guys whats up, im about to sell my truck and am getting ready to by my long awaited mustang. My question if i get a fox(hatch) how would it compair to an SN-95? like MPG and bolt on response things of that nature. is it worth getting a fox for say 4g vs. paying 10+ for a new edge? any comments or ideas would be welcome thanx

RE: SN-95s Vs. Fox
stock for stock, the new edge is faster.
I think it depends how much you want to modify it... if you want to strap on a blower to your daily driver and have >350rwhp, a new edge is good. if you want an all out track car, performance parts for the 5.0 motors are much cheaper and easier to find than 4.6 parts.
you'd most likely have more things that require attention on a $4k fox than a $10k new edge.
they both suck *** at MPG, so if you're concerned about that, a mustang (especially modded) is not really for you.

The fox will respond better to mods and the parts are much cheaper for them. Keep in mind that with the fox bodies you're buying a car that at the newest 14 years old. If the car wasn't properly maintained at that age you could have some rust issues and other body/frame problems. Its possible to get one for fairly cheap, but give it a good inspection so that you catch any problems that could be really expensive later on.
With the new edge (99-04) gt's, they are generally dont have the rust/neglect issues that the older fox bodies have. Like redass said earlier the new edge cars have more power stock than the fox bodies. The 4.6 2 valve motors dont respond as well to bolt on mods as the 5.0 motors, but with nitrous or supercharger and bolt on's the new edge can easily get into the 350-400 rwhp range.

It all comes down to your personal choice. They are both excellent platforms to build on..it all comes down on how much $$$ you got and how much you are willing to spend to achieve your HP/torque goals. Answering your question, the 5.0 responds better to mods than the 4.6 SOHC however the 4.6 has better fuel economy than the 5.0..that is stock to stock.

I say new edge. MUCH cooler looking, and racing's illegal off the track anyway. if you wanna pay to take your car to the track every weekend and race, I guess the Fox would be a better choice. but with a new edge, you also gey more modern comfort features, as well as styling. and stock, more HP. I say, hands down, new edge. unless you really want to get into racing.

Wait a sec...I'm confused. You go from comparing a fox to an SN95, but then all of a sudden you are talking about New Edge? Why not get an SN95 5.0 for 4k - 5k? You get a newer body style, plus you get a 5.0 that's cheap to mod.
