Default jacking up stang

i am storing the stang over winter and i just jacked it up so that all tires are about 1/2 inch off the ground. problem is that the fender gap (distance between top of tire and bottom of quarter panel) in the rear is 2 inches and the front is now like 7 or 8 inches. does the front suspension have that much more travel then the rear or are there softer factory springs in the front or do i have a problem. thanks in advance

as you can see in my sig pic, the front gap is only 1 or 2 inches higher when the car is on the ground but when it is jacked up, it becomes more like 5 or 6 inch difference. WTF

I would think the available heights of
front and rears are NOT related.

Main thing is to keep your windows, vents,
closed to keep out mice and cats.

As said below it depends on where you jack it up.

if ur fronts are under the springs, i dont see how it could be that much different. are they placed where there is some weight of the car on the springs? why are u worried about keeping it jacked up. if u wanna just keep it off the ground, i would jack it up and release it on some wooden blocks instead of leaving it hangin by stands.

store it on an old ****ty pair of wheels and tires... thats what we all do, but no typically i wouldn't think there'd be that much of a difference. install subframes next year and jack up on subframes... jmo.

I raise mine by the K-member and rear axle. When placing it on stands, I put the stands also on the k member and the rears I use the part of the torque boxes. And yes the front suspension will have more travel than the rear.

Yes the front an rear are different in drop travel. What you are seeing is normal. When I jack my car up I have some heavy duty stands that I usually use for super duties with lift kits, and then some regular 4 ton stands for the rear. It sits level like that and the front hangs down pretty far. I wouldn't completely unload the suspenion though for storage, put some blocks under the tires or you'll destroy the shocks, since they are usually the travel stops and possibly bind the bushings pretty bad as well.
