i have a 400hp 302 and i was wanting to use my c4 tanny because im out of money. i was just wondering how much hp a c4 tanny could hold and if i rebuilt the tranny how much hp would it hold. thanks for all replies.

 

A c4 should be able to hold up to 500 Hp

 

A C-4 trans. can hold up to 1000 hp may be a bit more with good hard parts.make sure you use the H/P frictions and good bands.and a good valve body that gets line press. up.that is the key to getting a C-4 to live under big H/P numbers.400 H/P is also fine for the stock drums and planetary. I get $650-and up for my C-4s and that inc. the trans and a race valve body from Dynamic Transmissions.with extra clutchs H/P clutchs and bands and improved oilling.but not roller bearings.and that runs a good front servo also. you should also get a good servo for your trans also.the best Ford sevro is the H.but performance automatic sells there own for around 125 also. 150 to 300 should get yours done all depends on how many mods. they make.and where you live.
