Default Check feul cap light

My check feul cap light is on and my cap is tight. I talked to my brother which used to be a mechanic, and said it was probably loosing pressure in the tank and the sensor was going off. or somthing like that.
If anyone else has had this problem please let me know. Also I am 16 and wondering, if i take it in to get fixed, will they give me a rental? Could my parents sign for one?
Thanks.

I don't think your in any imminent risk.
I think you get the same light when you
don't tighten down the cap.

Don't think you can rent your own, or
even if folks sign the rental may not let you
drive.

Try leaving off the cap and see what sets.
Do you get any check engine codes?

Thanks for the advice but the light just went off not too long ago.
I guess the computer solved the problem.

Even if you were 56 I doubt many garages would "give" you a rental car and yea you would have trouble renting one if you're 19.

Sometimes it is best to let the
computer fix itself.
There probably is some time
or number of starts that need
to be passed.
