I have a 6 banger (but my question applies to all i think) that "squeels" when the clutch is not pushed in or disengaged. so when i am shifting - it sounds fine.. but sitting at a red light i hear this.. noise.. and its pretty loud.

Now if i just push the clutch in a small amount - it goes away..

I am not sure what this is.. do i need to replace my clutch??
I know a vauge question - but my milege is pretty high - and i am guessing i will need to get this done.

What should i pay to get this done. I hate not being a gear head - cause this type of stuff can drive you up a wall.

You need a new throw out bearing.But since your in there replacing the TOB you should replace the clutch. Most clutch kits come wit ha new Throw out bearing.

 

what would you estimate as total cost for clutch replacement at a shop?

 

Hey everyone - just wanted to post a follow up.
I had to eventually get the clutch replaced - i paid 400$ i think..

but since the replacement - i have purchased a 07 GT I love the new ride. Ohh i kept the 2000 3.8l as well.. now in process of upgrading the shaker 500.
