What grade of oil am I supposed to use in the rear axle, the same as the differental? I've got a seal out on the left sideand I'm gonna replace it, but the repair manual says to fill it with the proper oil but doesn't say what kind.

 

YES YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE BACK DIFF COVER TO REMOVE THE AXLE TO FIX THE SEAL. MAKE SURE THAT THE AXLE DOES NOT HAVE ANY BURES THAT CAUSED THE SEAL TO LEAK. JUST PUT THE REAR END BACK TOGATHER AND ADD YOU REAR END GREASE/OIL AND DONT FORGET THE BOTTLE OF FRICTION MODIFIER. THE AXLES USE THE SAME GREAR AS THE DIFFERENTIAL DOES. YOU JUST FILL UP THE DIFFERENTIAL UNTIL YOU CAN FEEL IN IN THE FILL HOLE WITH YOUR FINGER.

 

Thanks, I thought that everything probably took the same but wasn't sure. I almost forgot about the friction modifier too. I'll have to pick a bottle of that up.
