Default clutch adjustment question

I bought my `00 GT `vert last month, & I finally got around to getting it inspected. The dealer where I got it inspected says it needs a new clutch because the pedal engages the clutch pretty high up. My question is - is there a way to check if the self adjuster is working, or is the dealer correct. The clutch does not slip, it just has a high pedal. The car has a little over 37,000mi. on it. The dealer (not a Ford dealer) would like to install a new one to the tune of $980.00, but he said that does include the tax. I did not want to have to get one if I don`t need it.

Thanks, Ken

Default RE: clutch adjustment question

I only have about 2" of clutch travel through the pedal before it's fully disengaged, I like it. Makes for faster shifts. I have pretty much every type of adjustable component available too. AS long as it's fully engaged and not slipping, then leave it alone. It's not a sign of wear in my experience. 37K isn't a lot of miles for a clutch.
