No I think a cap with a bad sealwouldbe the more likley cause of the leak. Have you ever opened a radiator cap on a warm engine? Thats called pressure and there is enough pressure under normal conditons to pass a bad seal. A clogged system would have your engine overheating, not taking forever to warm up. The thermostat stuck open would have the system free flowing and could be the problem. It also could be that your fan isn't cutting off and is running constantly.Good luck.
A radiator cap should never leak, under any
pressure. You do meen radiator cap not
overflow tank cap? The radiator cap would
open and send prestone through the small
rubber hose to the overflow tank. This happens
every time you drive the car.
Just buy a new cap ($5).
You may not be fully warming up the engine to
get the thermostat to open circulating the fluid.
You need 15 minutes to 30 minutes in cold
weather.

you don't have do be a smart @ss, he's right....if it takes a long time for your car to warm up, whether the cap is leaking or not, you're t-stat could be stuck open. If it were to stick open then yes it could put additional pressure on the cap, causing it to leak. Replace the cap and check your t-stat. If it is in fact bad, at least your car had a fail safe, so it doesn't stick closed and make your car overheat. By the way, when you ask for help, don't get rude and offended when someone answers, no matter if think its wrong or right. WE are only here to try and help.
