Does the 4.6 need a vibration dampner ?

Does the 4.6 need a vibration dampner ?
I have had the car for two years. It has 68000 miles.
While looking to install a timing adjuster I realised that there is an aluminum UDP on the crank with no harmonic balancer [:'(]
Is the 4.6 internally balanced ? What happens if I keep running it with no harmonic balancer ?
Thanks guys

No harmonic balancer will destroy the bearings and the crank. If you aren't feeling the vibrations, you're internally balanced...but that doesn't mean it won't shake itself apart. The balancer dampens the vibrations/twists that occur when each piston is fired.

Your car is internally balanced, but listen to colorado mustang, you still need the harmonic dampener as soon as possible. I would not get on the gas again until you get that fixed. Are you positive that your under drive crank pulley is not pre-balanced. I have the steeda set and they are so there is no need for piggy backing with the stock one. A guy at jegs told me that the piggy back style are known to fly off if you don't re-tighten the bolts every couple of months. He also said that almost all of them eventually warp. If yours is not pre-balanced than i would suggest to get rid of that one completely and look for one on ebay or something(just the crank pulley, the water pump, and alternator should be fine).
