Alright everyone, here is a question for you. I have a 2000 mustang GT and it had been running a little weird, when i step on the gas pedel it sounds like a lot of air is coming threw my vents. Someone had suggested removing the smog air pump, if this is true what is the easiest way to remove this part? If thats not it does anyone have a suggestion of what it could be.

 

I didnt know new edges had smog pumps... Mine doesnt, but it is a 3.8

 

I am pretty sure that 4.6 liters have the smog air pump, if anyone knows someone about that get back at me because my car isn't running that well andI was told that it could be a big reason whymy carisn't runninggood.

 

Hydraulic fluid pump.....check.

Alternator.....check.

AC compressor.....check.

Water pump.....check.

Tension pulley....check.

Idler pulleys.....check, check.

No air pump.

 

let me start from the beginning then! I have a 2000 mustang GT and my a/c pulley is acting weird, it stalls when the car idoles. The pulley is spinning but the center part with the three bolts doesnt spin all the time it looks like that part gets stuck. Does any one know if I am just low on freeon or does it sound like the pulley it going out. Also when i am driving it sounds like air comes through the vent in the car and when I step on the gas it just sounds like more air comes thorugh. Does anyone have any idea whats up?

 

Maybe you have a vacuum leak. The HVAC controlls operate off of engine vacuum. The AC is on a solenoid. The inside should not spin unless you turn the ac on.
