Default quick n EZ newb question

when you get a dyno test, do they take the whole engine out of your car and how much is it to get one?

You can get a engine dyno or a chassis dyno. A chassis dyno measures the power at the rear wheels, where a engine dyno measures power at the crank. Prices will vary, but around here it cost about $100 to get a chassis dyno tune.

By the way, it's probably harder to find a chassis dyno than a engine dyno.

If they do a engine dyno they have to take the whole engine out. A chassis dyno you strap your car down and the rear wheels (or front if front wheel drive) are on rollers. You run your car through the rpm band and it measures the power that way. So the engine stays in the car in that case.

ok..remeber the "car" to go fast needs to be in tune, what i'm saying is engine, chassis, drive..must be one..to much hp and no supension means your slow vice versa......with a chassis dyno and using Air/fuel meter you can tune the car to it's limit before detnation

LOL. Im with you Vfast. I cant think of any normal person that would use an engine dyno. Stick to the chassis.
