Ok I have been looking at a 2003 gt manual and i scared because it didnt seem to have much that much acceleration. This is coming from me who has been driving a v6 mustang for 5 years. im also looking at a 2002 cobra because the new ones are so expensive. my question is if i was to get a gt what are some mods that are cheap to get acceleration up and also is there a big difference in manuals and automatics because dealers keep telling me that there is not that much power loss and that when I put exaust on they soyund the same. The only reason I mention this is that i was thinking about a convertible and all i can find are automatics. Any help would be great<IMG src=smileys/smiley1.gif border="0">

 

Automatics rob more power, and why did they tell you they'd sound the same? It makes no sense, unless the automatics have a quieter exhaust. But even so they don't sound the same. Listen to some riced out Hondas with big fart cans - you can tell which ones have autos. The only sound difference is when they shift. But who cares?
Go for a manual, unless 95% of your driving is stop and go on steep hills. make the dealers work for their money.

 

First of all, dont get an AOD. Second, gears will give you the pull that you are looking for. 4.10's is the way you will want to go if you dont get asupercharger. The dealer wants you to get an auto because you pay extra for the AOD.

 

I’m more than sure they didn’t make 02 cobras. They made the 99 the 2000 cobra R and the 01 cobras and now of course the MOnster 2003's.Oh yeah.... enough said. MM&amp;FF had an article this month on a guy with an 01GT AOD, and with CAI and cat back he was putting 217 &amp; 249 to the wheels. you should be able to match or top that stock with a stick, but im not sure exactly what they dyno.

 

why do you say they didnt make 02 cobras

 

theystopped productionof the cobra for a short time because it was discovered they weren't putting out theincreased 320 bhp from 305they were claiming. a design flaw in the intake manifold was to blame. so they stopped production, recalled all the cobras with the flaw, fixed them and brought them back the next year. these were the 01 cobras i believe.</P>

 

I dont understand....All you can afford is an automatic? Standards are cheaper and OH SO much more fun. Getta 03 GT 5 speed. Throw 4.10s and an underdrive pully set on it. Thatll wake the hell up outta the car and yer only spendin 300 bucks on it. Want more bank for the buck. Get nitrous. Its fast and cheapest hp/dollar ratio.
