I use the Beltronics RX65 Pro which is basically the same detector as the escort 8500. Definitally worth it, saved my *** quite a few times.

100% yes. Saved me sooo many times. I use a passport 8500 and it works great. I also use a remote mount whistler detector on my stang so its not displayed in the window. Works great too. Make sure you get one where you can turn off X band. Cops dont shoot X band and it goes off all the damn time.

NOT TRUE, maybe not in your area but there are places that still use X band.
One of the worst places that still use X band is the State boys from New Jersey.
They use instant on X and they shoot you from behind sitting on bridges and on-ramps.
Make sure before you turn off X band that you know for fact that it is not used in your area.
Also if you do travel and you have it off make sure you turn it back on.

If a $200 radar detector can save you atleast ONCE from getting a $300+ ticket, it has paid for itself and done its job.

Yeah, I have the Escort 8500 also and would not drive the Mustang without it. I try to keep it under the limit but I am not there 100% of the time and this unit works very well. Passport/Escort, Valentine-probably the best and one of the Cobra's fared very well in a radar test I read. mark
