What type of racing do u guys prefer and why???

 

Call me crazy, but I prefer the type that doesn't put innocent lives at risk on the streets.

No type of Racing that endangers others lives is cool. and there is an off topic and a Street and stripe section for this type of discussion

 

I agree, but I like street racing in an abandoned area. I think stoplight to stoplight or highway or rural area's are a bad idea.

In Sacramento there are tons of industrial area's that are completly abandoned (except for security) that are good places to race, but only a few with perfect sight of everything are the ones that I liked to go to. Racing in traffic is just stupid, there are countless things that could go wrong with your car, his/her car or just things you cant controll. Even racing in "Abandoned " area's can suddenly see someone lost or just working late that doesnt know whats going on.

Personally its the lack of officials and rules that draw me to an abandoned road, but bracket is great too.

Because most dont go to abandoned roads I think I may have only been able to see about 1 race a month going out to where I like to roam. Honestly though I like to just drive too on a clear night, nothing makes me happier.

Things can go wrong at the track too but its more controlled and has trained people on site to help is something goes wrong.

Your really should race on a public road at all, especially if you are a new driver or have a new car, then that just amplifies your risks and everyone elses, im not trying to make it right because it wont ever be right but being safe is the number 1 thing.

If we want our hobby to stick around for a long time for others to enjoy then we have to stay legal about it and keep the public from hating every single modded car out there. Be Responsible and safe.

I prefer the track. In Oklahoma we've got these old timers who live along the highway who think they own that stretch of road and can drive how they want. You never know when one will pop out in front of you.

Me, I like all types of racing. But +1, I dont like to endanger other people. I like highway racing if its just me and the other car racing, street racing - never (have in the past but wont do it again). Legal drags are fun, but you gotta wait SOOOO long in line. Somedays you only get to make a few passes, which really sux.

Jothmano, you forgot one thing to your poll, roadracing/autocross. <-- thats what I prefer.

I wish they had more auto cross in my area. That would be cool to get into.

 

Look up SCCA (sports car club of america). Im SURE theres tracks and other events in your area. You need to get licensed by them in order to run in some of the events. Also, your car will have to go through a tech inspection to make sure its fit for roadrace/autocross use. And eventually, if you get in to some of the amateur leagues you might need to get a roll cage and what not.
