Default HELP!!! AOD to T-5 Conversion!!!!

Hello guys, i'm a new member and i'm located in Brooklyn, NY. I was wondering if anyone has ever performed a Trany swap on a 1993 mustang LX from an AOD to a T-5? Where can i get this swap performed proffessionally for a decent price? What Parts will I need besides the trany? And how did it work out once the swap was completed? Please I would appreciate any info given. Thank you !!

well no it won't be cheap....first see what computer you have as you'll need a A9P
then you'll need the pedal assy, trans, clutch, cable, quad, removal of trans coolant lines and plug the red
new trans mount for an 5 speed, plus a shifter..I would stick with the auto..put a shift kit and a stall with a coolers and it will be just as fast without city driving making your left leg bigger than the right*L*

Yes have to agree with vfast, Ive done the covertion myself from 93 LX 302 to 79 stang, I had all the parts to do it. I was a real pain, Getting things to work proper. I got it done worked great. Now I am planning to swap a 302 in my 83 stang with a 3.8L V6 I am leaving it auto.

Good Luck

Well it does sound like its a pain in the neck! To think of it i had an 84 stang with a 5 speed and YES my left leg was bigger than my right one LOL!!! Do you know where i can get the shift kit installed around Brooklyn, Staten Island or in the vicinity? How much approximate it will cost me? Also what is a STALL??? I hope im not asking any annoying questions, I really appreciated your response.

he's talking about a higher stall torque converter which will make the engine go up higher in the power band before the tranny engages the gears. this would require the tranny to be removed so that the converter could be installed whereas the shift kit can be installed by just dropping the tranny pan and removing the valve body and modifying it. I fully agree that keeping the AOD and beefing it up would be the best and cheapest way to go with your Stang, especially if it's your daily driver in the city. check out www.lentechautomatics.com to see what a really good shop can do to build a bulletproof AOD for both street and strip.

any while the trans is out it is sooo much easier to put in the shift kit...TRANSGO make a good kit! as for a stall a 2500 is about all your need and of corase a trans cooler!

Nice clean engine SpecialPony, I had the same chrome ponies on my 79, I paided $200 for each rim to get chrome dipped.
I got 2 stage shift kit in my 79 stang way back, I was running 2500 stall converter, Nice fat dual exhaust made it a sweet combo.

Well, thank you guys for all your responses and your complements on my car. These pictures were taken about a week ago. Well i really want to install the SHIFT KIT and the 2500 STALL CONVERTER but i dont know who to bring my car to for this kind of work. I already removed the catalytic converters completely and replaced them with straight pipe on each side and custom fitted the oxygen sensor. Big difference in sound and performance. I just cant wait to work the tranny. I have a few more questions, what gears should i install 3.73 or 3.55 *NOTE* keep in mind i would like to install a Paxton BLower in the future. I would also like to know Which of the two cars COBRA and SALEEN came stock with 3.55 gears and back disc brakes. Im thinking of swaping the rear so i can have four disc brakes. Thanks again in advance for your time to answer all me questions. Drive Safely!
