I might have a clogged injector. I have already had injector cleaner run through the engine or whatnot. That didn't work. Should I try again to see if it works, or is one time sufficient? Also, someone mentioned manually cleaning the things. How much does that cost, and can any mechanic do that?</P>

Any help would be greatly appreciated.</P>

HMichele,</P>

Why do you think you have a clogged injector?</P>

Is your car bogging? If so,then if could be a number of things.....My car went through a bog phase for about 4 months.....trust me....I dubbed it King bog.</P>

I started out thinking it was an injector or two and started by doing injector cleaner stuff also and then went through a myriad of items. My engine is so clean now that it would probably make Mr. Clean fill out his resignation.</P>

Let me know what kind of car you have, year, 8 or 6 shooter and all your symptoms and WHEN they occur and I'll try to help you out.</P>

(yes, I'm bored at work)....hahaha <IMG src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0"></P><edited><editID>WhiteHawk</editID><editDate>37839.6230324074</editDate></edited>

Well I took it to the Ford place, and they hooked it up to their "tell all" machine. It said "possible fuel injection" something or other, and they suggested I get a whole new injection system. I called my mechanic, whom is now retired, and he said that it is probably a blocked injector. </P>

Ok here is the deal w/the car (excuse my terminology b/c I am a chick that knows nothing about cars). It will be ok for one min then shaking the next. Usually when it starts to shake I will downshift to get it to quit. Sometimes it feels like is trying to make up its mind whether to shake or not, I will feel it go then pull back several time, then it will go without shaking. I have a 2000 V6.</P>

I appreciate your help.</P>

Are you getting any warning lights on your dash?</P>

Well, since their Comp. Diag. said it was an injector let's stick around that area.</P>

Pretty much any saavy mechanic will know how to clean injectors, not really much to it. - </P>

Also, make sure your wires (Spark plug wires) are in good condition. Start the car up at night in a dark area, open the hood and with a NON-METALLIC stick-like (in case thats it, you won't get shocked, not that it will do anything to you, but it might scare the bejeezus out of you and your reaction my hurt you) object move them around a bit and listen for electrical crackle-like sound and look for sparks. When a wire is bad it'll shake only at certain times.</P>

If their "tell all" machine can't determine if you have enough fuel going through, it could just be the fuel filter.</P>

Your car can shake for the following reasons: (starting from back to front).</P>

If your fuel pump is failing and at times will not pump fuel. (this is easily determined by any mechanic). continuing the line is the filter that could have some sort of debri/flake style that opens and closes the fuel passage (again, easy as pie to determine), then the fuel continues through a regulator (IF your car has one....again...a mechanic will easily determine that) and then go through the rails that are attached to your injectors. (now this is a bit more complex, but nothing a mechanic cant EASILY handle...it's just a matter of pumping the fuel through ONE injector at a time and see if that's the prob.) If all those check out then guess what.......it's not fuel related. </P>

now you (your mech.) are going to have to search for electrical stuff (coils, wires, rotors etc..) and air to fuel mixing stuff (its called Mass air meter calibration) etc.....but we'll talk about that later if you still have the problem. </P>

Thanks WhiteHawk. Especially for the tip about not getting shocked. I am accident prone, and a spark would probably result in a broken leg or something.

I told my ex-wife about the wire thing and "somehow" forgot to tell her about the shock thing .....it turned out to be a wire, she got shocked and in reflex stood up real fast, whacked her head on the hood which raised it to a point where the prop fell over and as it fell it kinda broke her finger.</P>

Then again....she is the one that got the house in the divorce.....serves her right.... <IMG src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0"></P>
