What's a "charge motion plate?"

The lower the gears the better the 1/4 mile time.. also lousier fuel economy & high revving if you do a lot of highway driving,, so it up to you to decide which is more important.. is your car auto or standard tranny?

A charge motion plate is a "delete" for the charge motion control valves (CMCV) on the 4.6L 3V engines. The CMCV is an emissions related thingy, athrottle-like set of butterflys that live between the intake manifold and the head, and block off 1/2 or so of the port at low revs and loads--the PCM opens them at higher revs and more aggressive throttle positions.Like anything else placed in an intake tract they restrict airflow (even when open), and increase turbulence. The charge motion plate is essentially just a spacer with the same size and shape as the CMCV assembly, but no butterflys.
