Default Budget friendly modifications

I'm picking up a '95 mustang tomorrow. 6cyl 3.8L automatic.

What are some simple modifications I can do to it that won't cost me too much? Performance, filters, body, etc.

First off check with the local dealership to see if the car has any recalls that have not yet been taken care of, the 95' had several.

Second, that engine and trans combo is going to be sooooo sloooooow, I would just work on what things makes you happier, you really arent going to get too much pep out of it without dump some serious money into it.

The good thing is that a 5.0 or 5.8L is a direct drop in and those come by fairly cheap. If you wanted to go to a mod setup you would have to change the K-Member.

Otherwise make the mustang the way you want it for now to make you happy, if you want stereo, exhaust tone or visual stuff, I would leave the performance part alone for a while.

If you want some extra performance anyways then here is a good cheap combination that will help a lot.

MAC CAI
UD Pulleys
Shorty Headers
GT Takeoffs
4.11 Gears (New trans gear to make the speedo work correctly)

Those are probably the most bang for the buck items and fairly cheap. Your car is 145hp stock, with those you should go up to 170hp especially if you make sure that your new ring gear is a Pro 5.0 ring and pinion gear set because they back cut their removing useless weight freeing up some horsepower.

After that point I would just save up for a new engine. Visit www.supersixmotorsports.com if you are a die hard V6 fan.

Not meaning to throw down insults but if you are at all interested in performance, why buy a 3.8L Mustang.

Get the V8.
