if your not "too" concerned with performance may I suggest a drag radial tire so that you can have good traction on the street too? Something like a Nitto 555r if you do alot of driving or BFG's if you don't and want alittle more stick at the expense of how long they last.

Is your rear beefed up? Ok, that sounded gay. If not you may wanna beef up the rear before running slicks back there.

Stock 8.8 is pretty solid.
Just if you run slicks DO get a Driveshaft Safety Loop...
I don't have one yet, so I'm just contradicting myself.

BUT it's better than pole vaulting yourself into a wall when your driveshaft decides to go

I would sugest looking into these companies for slicks

Interco Tire
www.intercotire.com

Mickey Thompson
www.mickeythompsontires.com

Hoosier
www.hoosiertire.com

Most of the above companies can be purchased through Summit ( www.summitracing.com ) for a reasonable price.

I've had two sets of Hooiser slicks and both of them had problems which resulted in early failures. First set has a tiny pinhole leak that was a real nuisance, kept having to put air in it all the time and it was in the side near the bead where you couldn't really get a patch on it easily. Second set I ran over a rock at the track right at the edge of the tire and puntured the damn thing. Put a tube in it and it went flat on me again as I was pulling off the track after a pass earlier this year. I decided to hell with Hooiser and bought some Mickey Thompson ET Drag slicks with tubes and are very happy with them so far. you can fit a 26x9 slick without any problems on the stock rims for a Fox model. this last pair I went up to a 28x10.5 taller tire and had to do just a little fenderwell clearancing work to make sure nothing would hit the tire and I removed the outside quad shocks also.
I've been telling OB all year he needs to get that driveshaft safety loop too. most tracks require them if you run slicks and they are a very good safety feature to have when running slicks. never can tell when you might snap a front U joint on a shift!!!
