The extension cord really cuts down on your cruising range too.

Wow...a guy comes here for help and he gets bashed on the basis of personal taste. Since when do we discourage the personalization of our vehicles. I think the car scene in general would a pretty boring place if we all had to like the same things. I have seen and personally installed more than a few neon undercarriage kits on domestic vehicles, so whoever decided it was justa ricer mod need to broaden their automotive horizons.

Well now that Im done ranting, Underbody kits are not that difficult to install. Thier are basically two types ofneonkits on the market, the cheap ones and the expensive ones. The cheap ones have the neon tubes protected inside a thin "plastic" tube and each tube has its own cheap little transformer built in. Because each tube has its own built in transformer you have to run a positive and a negative lead to each tube which can turn into a mess in no time. I personallythink these cheaper kits are a pain in the *** to wire up, plus they dont last as long and arent nearlyas durable as the more expensive kits. IMO they justarent worth the money you saveover buying a more expensive, higher quality kit. You spend around a 80.00 to 100.00 for a cheap kit and they usually dont last a few months (if that long)before either a transformer burns out or a rock breaks one of the cheap plastic tubes and pops the neon bulb. If your going to invest in a neon kit, spend the 200-275.00 for a quality kit like one from Street Glow. These kits come with the neon tubes weather proof sealed inside a shatter proof "Lexan" outter tube. I have personally stood on and jumped up and down on these tubes and even hit them with a hammer and not broken one, I have never had anyone break one under normal use and I've installed more than a few of thesesystems under semi trucks. Thier easy to install as long as you follow the instructions. The quality systems have thier tubes wired in series and connect to single transformer about the size of a pack of cigarettes. Again if you follow the instructions correctly its no harder to install than a set of fog lights. One thing to remember is to mount the tubes themselves up and out of site cuz it looks really sh***y when you can see the actual neon tube itselfand not just the glow from the neon.

If you've been here long enough you'll discover *most* people here on this site are going for performance mods more than appearance. (yes I said *most* lol) There is no problem whatsoever for personal taste to choose what mods looks good-or-bad, but if you want to go more for looks than speed, there are probably other forums that cater to that.

Personally I prefer it when a performance improving mod ALSO improves appearance. Larger rims & lower profile rubber improve cornering dynamics and also look great. A hood scoop can offer additional underhood clearance for the engine and/or improve underhood airflow, AND it looks good... yada yada ... some might even argue that something like Lambo doors makes it easier to get in & out of the car in a tight parking space lol OK whatever ...not sure what neons are good for (?)

look into LED's instead, much better. more damage resistant, if one small LED breaks in the tube the rest will still work, neon breaks, it's broke! many more options with LED's. different lighting programs, oogles of colors from one application. i believe the boxes that mine came in said one million colors. don't pay attention to the neon/LED haters on here.

Neon is retarded...on anything, same with big aluminum wings.
