trying dropping the timing back down to 10 degrees and see if the noise goes away. this is the stock level and with the new heads, you may be pushing the envelope trying to use 89 octane with the new compression of the new heads. if the noise does go away, then you need to run the higher octane gas. if it don't, then I would pull the passenger side valve cover and inspect everything, springs, keepers, rockers, pushrods, etc. until I found something cracked or loose or binding and hitting.
well i had the valve cover off yesterday...didnt notice anything out of the unusual. everything was fine and nothing had come loose.
exhaust you say.... ill check to make sure the bolts are tight when i get home. and ill set my timing back...they told me they set it to 18* first and i almost **** my pants. he said it had detonation so they turned it back to ABOUT 14*

YUP! i wonder why i didnt think f that, i am 99% sure that is ur problem, it does sounds just like a rocker tiking! DUH!!!

its a felpro...the header gasket that is.... you think tightening the bolts would do it or would i need a whole new gasket. its a b!tch to take those headers off and put them back in.
