Default Cleaning out mud...

Ok I need some advice. Where I have to park at school is sometimes a muddy mess especially this time of year. Most of the time it just gets thrown all over in my wheel wells and makes a mess and I've even seen it get under the hood near my engine. Twice already this early spring I've gotten stuck which is frustrating and embarrassing but I can't afford a pay sticker.

My question is how to best clean out mud in the wheel wells after I've been forced to go off roading. Does using a high powered sprayer like they have at the manual car washes hurt anything? Are there electronics that can get wet? I mean this stuff really gets everywhere!

If you have access to a garden hose then that's the easiest fix for wheelwell mud. Use one of those pencil thin water stream attachments & it outta wash the muck right out. As far as under the hood goes.. geez how much 4x4'ing R U doing in the poor Stang anyway?

Those hose attatchments are your cheapest best bet and easy to use, as for under the hood just dont get any water ontop of the engine or on electrical. If its that high up just clean it by hand with a cloth.

Tough stuff foaming spray will get rid of oils too if you ever come accross that problem, dont ever spray anything on the engine though, always clean with a cloth by hand

Getting water on a properly functioning engine won't hurt anything. It's when you have leaking spark plug boots or wires that the trouble can start.Washing your engine just brings a problem to the surface that's waiting to show itself at a very inopportune time.I would avoid using high pressure "car wash" type sprayers under all conditions for engine cleaning. They can force water into places that were never designed to get wet.
I clean my engine by pouring the last of the soap and water in the wash bucket over the engine and spray it off with the garden hose then allow the engine to air dry. After everything dries I spray a mist of Armorall over everything and close the hood.Yes belts and all,I haven't had one start slipping yet.

Its also easier if you can get the mud off the same day. Waiting and letting it set up will be tough to get off, especially if the mud has clay in it.
