Basicly it depends on your use. Is it just for street, or racetrack on weekends? Is it a daily driver that you want to just sound good but still be streetable. All this plays a big part as it will depend on gearing, trannyetc. I give you the basics assuming your doing mostly street driving.A cam around .447 lift, 215@.050 duration will give you off idle performance and be a good daily driver. Sound just a little more than stock. Now a .471-.480 lift, 228-236 @.050 duration will give you the torque/power at around 2000rpm and sound cool. Nice lope and be streetable. A .500 lift, 246 @ .050 duration the torque/power kicks in at 2600rpm and hauls ***. Sounds real lopey and barely streetable. When I say barely means you need to have a manual tranny for one thing. Reason is you don't have much vacuum at idle and the tranny will shift weird. They have vacuum canisters but there's other stuff to. You'd need a high stall converter if you did use an auto. Plus 4:10 gears for either tranny. I ran a .500 lift cam on the street for a while and the car flew but it wasn't easy to maintain. So my suggestion is an appx. .471-.480 lift cam with a 228- 236 @ .050 duration. Streetable, haul *** and sound mean. Ohand another thing I say power kicks in at 2600rpm that's what it literally means, that .500 lift cam was a dog until 2600 and then it throws your head back and stuffs you into the seat.

The post above gave great advise and the quote I highlighted made the most sense for a mild but fun street car. There are many things to consider when buying a cam and sound isn't really one of them but when you work the right combo its a blast. If you stay in the 225-235@.050 duration range and LSA of 112-114 you would have a good sounded cam that has good street manners. One you go over 235@.050 and LSA of 108 or less then you start to run into driveability issues. Most people over cam a car and thats how 'wisemen' are born.[sm=smiley20.gif] Call several cam manufacturers and give them all the specs on your car and compare what they recommend. They will be close to the above post and info!!!!
