Default Trunk Shocks

Are the shocks on the trunk supposed to actually lift the trunk open or just hold it up? Mine don't lift at all if anything they fight against me opening it but they do hold it up. They've been like that since I bought the car though so I'm not sure if they are worn out or if thats just how they work.

Yea I HATE the struts on my trunk lid [:@] They FIGHT with me when I try to open the trunk, and they FIGHT with me when I try & close it[:@][:@] But they will keep the lid open once it's all the way up. Still they're a pain in the ****!

They don't lift, only hold. Mine have fought being opened from day one. I kinda like the old fashioned method...steel springs.[>:]

If anyone knows who sells a decent replacement set of trunk struts that work PROPERLY then post it here. I wonder if I could "fix" the ones on the car by drilling a hole somewhere on the strut rod to reduce some of the resistance?
