Default EPA testing in IL? Rules? Regulations?

Im looking at a 72 chevelle with a new 350, 750 carb, mild racing cam, and Lt headers into flowmaster mufflers. The guy said it wont pass emmisions and that was one of the reasons hes selling it. I thought if the car was made prior to the testsing laws it didnt haveto pass emmisions.

Default RE: EPA testing in IL? Rules? Regulations?

As of Feb 07 cars older than 95 will not be called for emissions in IL anymore. Besides that, the Chevelle would have no trouble passing the old laws, it would have just been a tail pipe sniff, no dyno. Leaning it out and bringing it in hot and I bet it would pass no trouble. The other way around that is to register it as an antique. My 72 Nova was never called for emissions. Buy the car.
