Default shocks and struts install

I was just quoted 500.00 labor for KYB Shocks, struts and ford racig springs to be installed on my 88 GT. This is the reason I am trying to get some info on installing the parts I bought myself. How hard would it be to install everything in a driveway with basic hand tools. any tips or advice would greatly appreciated.

hey i just installed all those same parts on my car. its actually more simple than you think, first you can get the front springs out without compressing them just disconnect all the hard ware and step on the a-arm and the spring will pop out as for the strut is was a little more tricky we had to take it completely off and cut the bolt off the top because after 16 yrs it wouldnt budge. the rears are even easier all you have to disconect is the quad shock and compress the sprind then step on the rear end and the spring will come out, to install you dont even have to compress just have someone step on the side that your doing and just slide the new spring back in, its actually very simple job to do it only took me and a buddy a few hours to do.. GOOD LUCK!

You don't NEED a compressor, but I suppose its helpful. And, um yea I've heard some stories of horrible spring deaths... also seen a coil spring get shot up a good 200 feet in the air [sm=alien.gif]

It shouldn't be very difficult as long as you know how to do it. A extra set of hands would also help. It is
a lot easier on a lift than floor jack and stands though. Good Luck,

floor jack is the only way to do it without a spring compressor
