Default Locking lug nuts

How do these things work? I've heard of them but I couldn't find any info on them...

They just don't have a normal head on them. Some of them are spline drive - post with bumps along the side, some are external - like a door key except round, and some are internal - like a kryptonite bike lock.

You can get the McGuard spline drives for like $60/set or some knock offs that work the same from Discount Tire for $1/each.

so if someone was going to steal your rims they couldn't? Or is this something they can buy the kit and use it against you? Or is itthis way: are the patterns different?

The patterns vary by manufacterer. Usually it's a screwed starfish with an indentation, and you slide this key inside and a standard lug socket over it.

My (6 Gt came stock with them because it has the 17' rim option. They gave me a star looking head that fit in one lug nut a wheel and that head fits in your socket and you use it the same way u usually would, easy

different patterns. yes some will be repeats. its like the ford factory wheels locks they onlt have so many different designs then they repeat themselves. just a chance that you have to take. Mac and Snap-on both make wheel lock removal kits and all they are is a tapered socket that you drive on the lug nut and then take it off normally. if they want your wheels they will get them. all you can do is make it more diffucalte to.

The normal method for wheel lock removal without a key is to just bang a socket on with a hammer. If somebody wants your wheels they'll get them. Wheel locks just keep the honest people honest.
