just bought an 88 lx coupe with a ton of mods but when you start it up you have to give it gas like you would a carb car after it warms up its fine i was told that i may need a computer upgrade it has a m a f now but may not have from factory what year did the M A F start

 

My 89 V8 has a MAF. It is located 6 inches
from the air box. A dirty MAF will act just like you
describe. Just spray carb cleaner into the small venturi, making
sure that you don't touch the small sensors.
