The manual should say if it was stock
12 or 134A.
If it were upgraded, there would be a
sticker of some sort on the radiator
shroud.
If you have a leak, buying more freon won't help.
You can get the freon/dye to mark the leaks
location, but you may need ultraviolet light.
It is usually a compressor or main part that is leaking.

ok..
the question is... DOES A 1994 MUSTANG COME WITH R12 OR R134 STOCK?

I do not have the manual.. the car has been in a few hands and there are no stickers other than
a stupid k&n sticker..

I dont remember when the made the conversions, but I think your car came stock with 134a. At least you can buy a can of 134 and try it. The worst it will do is leak out. R12 is thicker than 134, which is why when the conversions are done, and the techs dont replace the o-rings, you loose refrigerant. I may be wrong though on what type of refrigerant came with your car. My service manual only goes to 93, and up to that year, it was R-12. Did you try google?

If you dont have the sticked under the hood call your local ford shop. The fittings on the R134 and the R12 fittings are completley different. So if you have a 134 hose youll know if its goin to fit or not. If you do mix them thewhole system has to be evacuated the oil changed and recharged.

If your car came with R12 KEEP IT THAT WAY. R12 blows alot colder than R134 ever will. There are alot of shops that still have R12 but its goin to cost you to get it recharged with it. So my suggestion would be to take it to a shop and have the leaks found and fixed. Then recharge.

+1, 93 was the last year it was used in any car that was intended for sale in the US market.
-P.
PS: '96 was the year where EVERY car went to OBDII.
