Default Performance Chips.. 100 HP?

I've heard from some buddies of mine that you can get a good performance chip and boost your HP 100 HP. Is this true? They also said I can get it for around $300-$500. I'm really interested in getting a chip for my car, but I don't know which ones are the right ones to get? Could someone point me in the right direction?

First: go up to those buddies of yours, tell them theyre full of crap and kick them in the ***** numerous times for feeding you that kind of **** [:@]

You will not find any chip/programmer that will giveyou more than about 10hp. Stay away from the single plug in chips like jet or hypertech. Those pre programmed chips have actually been shown on numerous occasions to hurt your power output. If you're set on getting a tuner, look into a SCT X-cal 2 or a diablo handheld tuner. They have way more adjustments then a plug in chip and can be tailored to future mods.

The best thing you can do as ar is tuning is to get a dyno tune. This works by putting your car on a dyno, then making adjustments and seeing if you actually gained any power by doing dyno runs after each adjustment. You can also watch air-fuel ratio, emissions, and other things on a dyno that you couldnt any other way.

With all that said, I wouldnt go with adyno tune unitl you have quite a few mods done. The stock tune will runjust fine for most all mods. Wait until you have most of your mods done before you dyno tune, that way you can make the car run as good as possible with the mods that you have.

There is no fn way you could get a 100 hp out of our n/a 4.6L w/ just a tune. My 01 s4 w/ twin turbos, i got 80 hp with a tune but i am running some big turbos on it. So they only way you could gain 100 hp is with a BT or SCand a tune. I went with a diablo predator tuner. They a decent amount of tuners for 99+ stangs. SCT, diablo, Jetchips, are just a few. a dyno tune is the best to have done becuase it is made just for your car. SCT is the best tuner to have that done with. with a tuner for a 99-04 gt you are looking at about 25 horses and you will defintely feel it. I would go with SCT or diablo. they are around the same price range. americanmuscle.com is a good place to look at them. you wont regret it. and get 4.10's while you are it.

Other than a tuner or chip what would you recommend buying for the most power and the least price. I've got a few things already under the hood, but was looking into some more power. A guy thats restoring a 66 chevelle of mine said that I could get 100-125 horses for about $500 worth of equipment. I don't think he would lie about that, but I'm gonna look into what he was talking about.

was he talking about a NOS you can do that for almost 500 bucks. I would do tuner, exhuast, gears. anddo supporting mods such as fullintake, pulleys, shifter, brakes, suspension, tires. and once you get your bolt ons done get a dyno tune. if you are going turbo or super then you are in a new world. you would do things differently then. but if the people you are talking to know how to get 100 horses for 500 bucks let us know.
But fyi, you do certain mods before you do others. get a goodtuner before you get an exhuast or gears.

I already have a good exhaust system on it. It performs great.. One thing my guy recommended was to get under pulleys.. i think the 4:10 gears are my next investment.. what do the gears get you power wise?

Gears dont give you any horsepower, they just help with your acceleration

500 bucks goes a little farther on a carb'd motor than it does on a 4.6... You wave 500 at a 4.6 and ask for horsepower and it will laugh at ya... A charger usually only gives you a little over a hundred tuned conservatively...

4.10 gears willdefinetely approve your acceleration, just make sure you put some stickytires on the back for traction, andas far as 100hp, the only way to do it for 500 and below is nitrous
