Well I finally got to autozone and my car had one code "40411" the guy at autozone didn't know what it meant and recommended I take it to a ford dealer. Any ideas?

Oh he mentioned something about secondary air?

Uh oh dude... hate to say it but P0411 Secondary Air Injection System Incorrect Flow Detected is exactly the code my car threw... as I mentioned above in my case the A.I.R. pump itself was bad and cost $800 to replace,BUTthe same codecould also just be a bad sensor or valve in the A.I.R. which would be a lot less expensive to replace.

Or, if your state doesn't have emissions, just yank the whole A.I.R. system out of the car, LOL.

I see online you can get new air pumps for around $150, I wonder if I could replace this myself? Guess I'll be buying that chiltons I've been putting off getting.

Well I did some research on my code P0411 and some people claim that my car will pass emissions even with the secondary air pump malfunctioning. The only problem is my CEL will stay on. Rather than fixing the problem they suggest just turning off the code with a chip/tuner...any thoughts?

Well, I live in PA too and in Allegheny county where I'm registered, if you put more than 5,000 miles per year on your car, you automatically fail inspection instantly if the CEL is on at all. (Which is a load of unfair bulls**t because there are all sorts of fluke reasons it could come on that don't mean a damn thing is actually wrong with the car!!!) Also, if you use a scanner/tuner to turn the CEL off you will fail as well because as part of the OBDII inspection process they will scan your ECU to see if it has recently been reset. Turning the CEL off with a scanner will cause the ECU to show the emissions equipment as "Not Ready" meaning it's recently been reset.

If you're mechanical enough and have the tools/time/workspace to try to swap out the pump yourself, by all means go for it. I really didn't have the tools/time/workspace to do it. And again I hasten to add it could possibly be just a sensor or a valve in the AIR system that is malfunctioning not the actual pump itself.

EDIT: Oops well I guess I should say if you use a SCANNER to turn the CEL off you will not pass, if you use a TUNER you might, I don't really know from experience on that one... a tuner might be able to shut off the light while leaving the emissions equipment readiness status unchanged...

I do inspections.... Alot of people think they are smart MFers and disconnect the battery and the lgiht goes out, then try to get it inspected. Uh oh, drive monitors arnt set! Nice try. Your going to have to fix it, otherwise you wont pass inspection. PM me for another idea...

Air pumps are not hard to replace. They are in the inner fender well on the passenger side...right below the headlight. Pull the plastic around the wheel well back, and go to town. Its held in by 3 10mm bolts and has2 rubber hoses, one that you need to disconnect and the other that is sorta the "intake" tube and you can leave that on. Theres also one electrical connection.

Its been raining all week so I haven't goten a chance to look at the air pump. This weekend I'm going to look at the air pump and see if it is working properly or at all. I have heard water can get into the pump and ruin it so i'll check for that. Sucks I need a $150+ part that really does nothing, but i guess i need it to pass emission testing.

*UPDATE* My pump was shot, full of water and rust. I got a newer used complete AIR system from eBay for $46 and in about 30 minutes I had my new pump on and after a week of driving still no codes! So I got away pretty cheap and shouldn't have any problems passing my inspection/emission test next month.
