What is the diffrence between a 350Z and a Fairlady 350Z? Same performance or just an upgrade?

Fairlady z is what the model name was called in Japan, same drivetrain and what not, it is just a little different in smog b/c the emissions aredifferent over in riceville

so there are none in the U.S.? I saw one yesterday that said it and i was just wondering b/c i wasnt beating him on the big end. He got the jump and i was pulling him back in until about 110 then i stopped pulling and we went to about 130. I finally let off b/c my hood looked like it was about to fly off.

I'm sure there have been a handful imported throughout the country, but there usually just ricers who get a fairlady emblem and stick it on their z33 platform and pretend it's different, im doubting this guy is stock if you're an 05 up GT, s197s seem tohave the upper hand onZs stock, you were probably dealing with a lightly modded one, good run either way

Rolling starts(if that's what it was)tend to neutralize a lot of the v8 bottom end torque advantages. Even some of the 4 bangers set up rightcan be quick at high speeds.

yeah it was a rolling start. I was reading the new car and driver (which sucks) and it has the 350Z and Shelby GT in their and they say that they both run 14.0 1/4 @ 104 which i know is **** b/c people can run better than a 14 with their stock s197 and the Shelby GT has that ford racing pack.

If you're talking about the new GT500 I've heard those things run in the 11's stock. 500hp with a twin screw compressor is a bunch of torque

No the Shelby GT. Its a regular GT with the Shelby name and it comes with ford racing cold air intake, a hurst short throw shifter and some thing else i believe. No way a 350z will keep up with a GT500.

nissan keeps bumping the power in them a little, reminds me of what gm used to do with vettes and camaros, they have been the same body style since they came out but the went from 287 to 300 to 306 hp, and from what I hear the 306 is more like 315 in terms of actual horsepower at the flywheel, and they raised the redline from 6600 to 7200 and maybe again after that, i think they used to run around 14.3 when they came out but now there down to 14 flat, s197 and shelby gt FTW still by a few tenths, and the gt500 doesn't even deserve the insult of being name in the same breath as the Z

thanks guys for the replies. Its annoying me b/c in my 96 i raced a 350Z and stayed right beside him, and i hung with a trans am(lt1) although he did pull a car on me. Now i have a 07 GT which is a turd load faster and i race a 350Z and he stays right beside me and i got pulled by about 2 cars against an LS1. Im seriously about to drop 2 grand into this car. I think after i do full bolt ons im gonna go with a 75 shot just incase i race a 4 banger or 6cyl and they are keeping up ill spray. Its just annoying me and now im thinking i should of waited a little longer and found a low mileage terminator.
