Nasty Spin Out
i guys -- first time poster here. Great site Got my 05 V6 Stang in December...and it is freaking awesome. However, when I bought it --used -- I cleverly didn't notice that it didnt have the traction control option.
So, a few weeks ago, in a light rain, I spun the hell out of my car on a highway onramp. Did a 360 INTO oncoming traffic. With my wife in the car. Yow. Luckily kept it off the divider and other cars.
Freaked out, I asked my dealer about installing the TCS option in my car. To my surprise, the dealer said this was 'impossible'. Called another one and got the same response.
My question to the good posters of this message board is --
1. Can I improve the stability of my car with other mods? Better tires (have the firellii options)? Stiffer rear differential?
2. Can non-Ford people install a TCS system?
Any help here would be greatly appreaciated.

Make sure your car has top notch tires with plenty of tread. Traction control isn't something that can be economically "added" to a car after it left the factory... if you REALLY want TC then sell your car & buy one that has it.
But,, I've been driving for 30 years & only my recent couple cars have had ABS, and this current car is the first one I've had with TC... as far as I'm concerned all that stuff is just icing on the cake, you don't NEED it. You have to drive responsibly for the road conditions & you'll be fine. If it's wet out then slow down

Check out Tirerack.com, i think thats the full name. Last i was there they had comparisons on different tires and how they rate in various weather conditions. Every brand is different so read a bit before you buy. I had my tires in a few days.
Just watch your right foot and know your limitations, the cars limitations, and you should be fine. A little common sense goes a long way.

Mustangs don't do well in slippery conditions. You really have to slow down and be careful when your driving in the rain. I wrecked my car the first time I drove it in the rain. I went around a curve at a pretty normal speed and I turned the wheel but the car went strait! Learned my lesson the hard way.. luckily I didn't hit anyone just ran over a median and bent up my subframe..
Im not trying to be a dick, but learning to control your car better is the best option. I did the same thing first time I drove a rwd car in the rain, luckilythe road was empty.Take it out in the rain on some low traffic roads, or in an empty parking lot and whip the tail around and brakehard until you can control the car easily and without panic. With some practice at being calm and smooth in the rain youll have no problems controling your car and won't need traction control or even abs. Though abs is awesome and should be an option you never pass up, itsaved my *** or should I say my nose once or twice.
Forget TC it's not needed, like eugenef15said learn how to control the car in bad weather. Also try to put some weight over your rear axel, that works in the snow so it should work in the rain. It's also been said, but take it easy!
