Probably a loose electrical connection. If you cant find and fix the problem yourself, hopefully your ebrake is working properly

I wouldnt worry about it too much. Judging from what you say is going on, it seems like a very minor problem. Get it checked out

not sure if it matters in your case, but my light would stay on when i had low brake fluid. i filled it up and now the light stays off whether or not the brake is on, but id rather have it off than on.

yea my e brake does the same thing sort of...i mean some times when i'm shifting it will come on and stay on for a while and other times it only comes on for the time i am shifting... wouldn't worry about it because my parents ford ranger does the same thing and nothing is wrong with these two vehicals

Could have to do with low fluid. Im guessing you have a SN-95 Mustang towley. I have done to many recalls on these ( including mine) There isnt much to the recall, you have to remove the center console. Then grind off the stop for youre hand brake and then screw on another stoper. Its a huge waste of time. It wont fix youre light problem. Could be a chaffed wire on youre hand brake switch.
