Default Starting problem

Hi guys. So i have a 87 5.0 H.O....when i try to start the car all i hear is this grinding noise, same noise as if u were to try to start the car, when its already running....I am clue less as to wat it is....is it starter?

Yes it could be either the starter or the flywheel might be missing teeth. Crawl underneath & you should be able to see which it is.
