I had my hood popped today with the motor running, and i noticed it makes a constant thumping sound at idle.... is this normal?...if not what could it be.. any ideas

 

No a thumping sound isn't normal.. and could be caused by a lot of things.. does it increase with engine speed? is it "loud"? Get your ear down there as close as you SAFELY can & try to localize it better.

 

no only at idle..... its the whole motor it self thumping.

 

Broken engine mount maybe?

 

A busted engine mount *might* be the cause.. grab hold of the engine as well as you can while it's idling & see if that makes the thump stop.

Is it a metallic sounding thump or more muffled? Is the belt in good condition?

 

Hope its not a rod!

 

brand new belts... and the sound is muffled

 

The hamster keeps falling over in its wheel. Common problem. Whens the last time it was fed?
