Im about to go pick up a car that has a loan on it. Therefore the guy says he will be able to send me the loan once he gets the money to the bank, but its saturday right now and it cant happen. He seems like a geniune guy, but just in case will the car and a bill of sale be enough to prove ownership? What could i do to ensure i dont get screwed?

 

DO NOT buy any car unless you have the title in hand when you exchange the money. You're only asking for trouble. Wait until the bank is open and you can go there with him and get the title as soon as the car gets paid. A bill of sale wouldnt be worth jack in this case since he doesnt actually own the car, the bank does.

On his side, I dont sell a car unless we go down to the courthouse and switch the title as soon as we finalize the deal. I dont want to get a call from the police saying my car has killed someone in a wreck, and its still showing to be in my name.
