Default Underdrive Pulleys-Do they wor

I was thinking of buying a set of underdrive pulleys for my 95 GT. Has anyone used these before? Can you tell a difference at all? Do they affect your charging system when idling? Are the things a wasted hundred bucks?

Don't have them on the GT, but I put them on the RS.
1) yes they work. The lighter weight (most of the gain) and underdriving consume less power meaning that you get more of the crank power translated back to the tires.
2) The RS revs a lot faster both up and down.
3) Lights dim a tad at idle. But who cares? How long do you sit at idle? If you're worried about running a large stereo, get a higher output alternator, larger diameter alternator pulley, and/or a capacitor.

I don't think I'll bother spending the money for pulleys on my GT. It's got twice the displacement, twice the cylinders, and twice the power as my RS. It's plenty fast enough.

yes, they work. -- you may need to change ur thermostat to 180 or 160 (I made it 160 and when I'm in traffic with the AC on....it starts climbing. (stock I think isa little above 190).</P>

you'll probably gain anywhere from 5 - 10 hp........</P>

Hey man, I have basically the same car as you. I bought the march pulleys and they work great. I'm not sure on how much hp it increased, but I definetly felt more power. As for charging I dont have any problem. Also the cooling system stays right in the center on the gauge at all times. I live in Arizona and it is hot as hell here, so If my car stays cool here, your good to go. They are definetly the best bang for the buck in my opinion.
PS dont waste your money on the aluminum ones, just get the regular black powdercoated ones. PM me if you have anymore questions.

If you are going to get them, go for the onewith the crank pulley andharmonic balancer together. I have the piggy back one and the additional weight of the old crank pulley with HB kinda cancels the effect out. Any time you can take weight off of the rotating assembly the better it is for your engine.

too much gear unless you have aod or never use the highway. get new 3.73's or maybe just replace the lube. but the rule is to replace gear lube every 30k miles so remember that.</P><edited><editID>Jugador</editID><editDate>37863.1316550926</editDate></edited>
