BLOW ME
I have a bone-stock 2000 3.8 with 18K miles that I love. I am thinking of buying a 99 GT with 50K miles with a Vortech blower on it making 357 RWHP 361 RWTQ @ 8 psi. My 3.8 is my daily driver and I don't have a budget for upkeep. Are Vortechs pretty dependable? What kind of tuning/upkeep issues can I expect? I will not drive the blown 4.6 like a maniac. Very civil.
I've been a post ***** for some time, now I need for this forum to be meaningful. I'm not sure what to do. I have a buyer for my 3.8 straight up - guy told me he'd pay me what I needed. I'm pretty sure I can get the 99 for 15K. Kelly Blue Book says it's worh this much

Any thoughts would be welcomed!

Tell me about it...I'm almost there, dc. Just gathering facts. My 00 is a sweet ride. Showroom condition.
Gets 20+ mpg. Costs virtually nothing to insure.
Tangibly, performance difference is a lock. But I would not be able to afford always needing to wrench on it. That's why I want to hear from the blower boys. See what kind of dependability I would be looking at since this is my daily driver. How would it act on a cold morning? And I mean like 2 below cold. Cause it won't matter if it's 82 or -2, I gotta go to work in it. I need to be able to point the key at it and have it go. That's what my 00 gives me now. We'll see

why not just tubro the v6..still will get 20mph..low cost ins...quicker than a gt..and to look at the faces of the v8 boys when you bust there ***..and are very relible with a good tune.....in very cold weather the vortech is ok but low wt oil is a much and you should not rev it until warm..a pita

Good question. Because this one is already done and is done right. All the tuning's been done. It's ready to go. No down time.

yes your blown 3.8 wil beat a gt.. but that gt with a blower would wax your 3.8, id definetly get the car man, you wont regret it, as far as i know blowers are farely reliable... and you should be able to get near 20mpg in it if u drive right??
Definately make sure you've got the money for a short-block in just in case. With 350 rwhp you should be safe forever as long as the tune is right, but you never know. Don't get blown if you've got no means to fix the car if a rod or piston lets go.
