Default Cold + Locks = ?

Ok heres the thing, ever since it started to get cold the key doesnt wanna work right and let me in the car when its locked. Ill go and stick the key in and it just wont turn, at all. I first just thought it was my car that was being dumb but then my friend told me he had the same problem w/ his 97, and then another guy w/ a 96 told me he had the problem. Is this a common thing here or whats goin on?

When i lived up north i had a car that did that all the time. Its probably caused by moisture getting in your door and freezing. Try a hair dryer on the door for a little while.

Go to your neihborhood auto parts store and get some spray lube and spray it into the keyhole. This will fix your problem.

Be more specific then. I thought your locks where occasionlly freezing, and couldnt figure out how to get in your car, at least thats what it sounded like.

walmart sells lock deicer for a buck or so. just spray a bit in there and its done. the cylinder likes to freeze up with these locks pretty easily.

I would not recommend WD 40 in the door locks as it can freeze too. use only a real lock deicer product and dry graphite lock lubricants if you want your locks to function properly.

man, u should quit your complaining about it ebing cold, up here in wisconsin the low about a week ago was NEGATIVE FORTy-TWO Degrees at my house, that is cold, then my doors froze shut and my locks did, but you might have a problem with your locks if its still 60 degrees out and they wont open, btw that would be 25 degrees above the freezing point of water, just my .02
