Default door sounds hollow

ever since i have owned my 2001 v6 mustang (6 months now) the door has sounded hollow, like a cheap tin can when someone shuts it and its embrassing. both doors do it, but the passenger is worse. it doesnt sound like most cars that are quiet and nice sounding when someone shuts the door, and when the windows are down its even worse. at a shop changing the oil i asked them to look at it, when i came back they said it was a light weight door and its supposed to sound that way, i dont believe them. anyone have any input?

I had that same problem with mine. All I did was roll the windows down and dump sandbox sand into the window trim until the doors filled all the way up. It sounds a lot better now. Also keeps the window from rattling.

Mustangs are not high dollar cars. There's a reason you can pick one up for $18k brand new.

If you want a luxury car, get a Lincoln.
