RE: Keyless Entry Help - 1997 Cobra
Richman,
Here is a website I found (http://autopedia.com/Ford/96_Musta.html) ... I copied in the GT and Cobra ... looks like Keyless in not standard for a 1996 GT ... but you could probably add one easily.

RE: Keyless Entry Help - 1997 Cobra
Descriptions I found:
(1) These instructions will work on Ford Mustang models, 94 - 98.5:
thats what the instructions say, so naturally Id think it would work,
anyone else have any other ideas , maybe i program a different way??

Yeah ... those descriptions I found were out there on the web ... and I searched a long time for them. I assumed that they took into account that a keyless entry system already existed in the car (as it did for my Cobra). I don't claim to be an expert, but from what I see in my trunk, vs. yours, you are missing the keyless entry hardware/control unit or it has been moved. But I could be wrong. Maybe look for that yellow plastic box somewhere else, as it may have been moved on you. The above instructions worked for my 97 Cobra, so it would probably work with cars with similar types of hardware. Not sure if there is any other way. Maybe ask a dealer/mechanic to do a free look and tell you if yours is equipped with the hardware or not; they should be able to tell ya. Hope this helps.

lol. first of all, that pic is not even where it is. You are looking at the rear sideways with that pic. If you keep going to the right with that pic it should be there..... IF!!!!!!! you have keyless... I dont understand what you want out of this????? If you dont have it youre not programming anything!

Casper,
I don't think you have a keyless entry module. Maybe check the right quarter panel area. It should be a small black box (at least for me) a bit lower than where your pictures show....I went to my 96 GT convertible, and lifted the panels you lifted, and this is what you should see (attachment 1, 2). The pins you can't find are pictured here (attachment 3). As for how to jump them, I found that you can do it really easily with any small fuse. Insert it inside to touch the pins and you'll hear the locks lock and unlock. (see attachment 4) You can then press any button on your new transmitter and you'll hear the car respond in kind. Hope it helps! Let me know how it turns out.
