spark plug question?
Hey guys, somewhere I heard that a less of a gap on the spark plug will make the engine run cooler... I have them at .54... Is that right or did I get the wrong info from the morons at AutoZone... I was told that .54 was stock... Let me know if i;m wrong.... Any tips would be great... Thanks

yea them guys at auto zone fed ya some bs lol... im sorry to say think about it... less of a spark plug gap when that spark happens in the combustion chamber you think less distance in that spark plug is gonna cool that explosion down? lol leave it to the guys at auto zone to tell ya that

Stock gap is .052-.056.
Yes autozone was right..Reducing the sparkplug gap will make your engine run cooler
A smaller gap will probably mean that the occasional fuel/air charge will fail to ignite and, less combustion = lower temperatures

Less gap cools the plug? Must be something from the 'all-knowing' ricer crowd.
The gap doesnt determine the heat range of the plug. If you have a weak spark or high boost it may help but thats where it ends. The amount of ceramic insulation determines the actual heat range of the plug.
The less insulation it has the hotter the plug will be and in turn will burn more efficiently. The more insulation there is the colder the plug will be. But it has to be right. If its too hot a plug youll ignite the fuel before the plug fires (pinging). If its too cold the plug wont burn as efficiently. With a practicallystock 5.0 a Motorcraft AWSF42C or Autolite AP25 plug will be plenty. Right now i have Autolite double platinums and they suck. Stick with copper cores.

Thanks guys, so having them gapped at .54 is right? I should know better than listening to those guys at AutoFaries... Thanks again...
I think my harmonic balancer is going out as well, I have a small vibration and notice a little wobbleing. I put a Griffen Alu. Radiator in a few weekends ago and it ran like crap.(Even hotter than with the stock one), so I put the stock one back in and its still running hotter... The stock one was fine but I was told that the aluminum one would work better. Well that didn't happen... I put everything back the exact way I pulled it off and I have to adjust the electric fan almost daily now to keep it from heating up so bad... I still don't have it right and its getting a little tedius... The funny thing is that I know I didn't move the dial any, so I'm stumped that it doesn't run like it did before I originally took it out... Any Ideas?
