Default Cold Air noise

I installed a MAC cold air in my 04 Gt, followed the directions and fits good. Only problem is that between 1300 and 1900 rpm's, I have a wining noise which sounds like air coming through the side fender. Car runs great.

Is this noise normal, what the hell is it?

The sound is a good thing! It means more air (hopefully) is getting to your engine. Plus, as per the 'instructions' you removed the 'air silencer.' Its cool unless your car blows up!

Yeah, it makes that noise for a while. Once a little dirt builds up on the filter it will go away.

Installed mine yesterday, makes the same noise, it doesn't bother me. What do you all think, noticable differance? I think so, there is definatly a deeper sound and better throttle response.

First yes its normal.

And second now you have a good understanding as to why ford used a silencer.

It all has to do with NVH= NOISE.VIBRATION.and HARSHNESS in the cabin.
