Default Thinking about buying a Mustang

Howdy everybody! Like to start by saying im a Pontiac guy, I got 2 Trans Ams, a 85 and a 91 GTA. But I have never been too interested in Fords. Nothing against em just never struck my fancy.

But as time goes on I find myself eyeballing the dark side known as the "blue oval". lol Pretty much what happened is a friend of mine has a 01 Mustang GT and I really like it. Its a MT 4.6 . Now before I ask my ? I want to exclude the 5.0 mustangs. I have the 80s-90s engine thingy down with my T/As I dont need another old pushrod motor. And I already know about the 96 to 97 ( I believe ) 4.6s being dogs cause of the bad head design so lets just go from 1998 on up.

Okay here it is, how much HP are you all making stock? How do you run against the LS-1s? How hard is it to do the basic bolt ons intake/exhaust (LT-1s and LS-1s are a PITA)? And after an intake, exhaust, and chip how much HP are you making? Oh and my favorite question...How much does it cost to boost a 4.6 via a supercharger / how much hp and boost / how much $$$?Quarter mile times will due instead of HP if you got em, I can do the math.

You know if the LS-1 wasnt hidden under the firewall of the 4th Gen F-body I wouldnt be here. Point Ford.

I appreciate it guys!

[ul][*]99+ New Edge Mustang run 260hp/300 torque[*]Everything on the car can be done with someone with simple knowledge of a car.[*]Basic bolt on dont respond very good to the 4.6's (Throttle body, Cold air, underdrive Pullies, exhaust, plenum) and will give u 290-300 hp to the wheels[*]But if you wanna do long tubes, heads, and cams you can hit the 330hp+ club but thats prob as high you will get with a 2V[*]A supercharger is about 2000-6000 bucks[*]You can run 420 hp on a stock block before you have to forge the motor. and 8-9 lbs of boost[*]With a supecharger and basic bolt on you will hit 420.[*]A stock GT should run 14.0's or 14.2's[*]Hope this helps[/ul]

That's exactly why I opted for the Stang over a Camero after looking under the hood. It's gotta be a real bitch to ever mod or repair.

Ford needs to go back to the 5.0 Push rod motor, so first motor is more responsive to mods, and two so it can be a cheap build for LS1 killers lol Sorry mustang guy FTW!

Nah Ford should have made the 4V heads standard on ALL V8 Mustangs, AND made the modular engine displacement > 5 liters

Yeah that would be great but Ford doesnt want to anty up the motors, so our lil Mustang can really give the camaro's, and vettes a run for their money.

get a 5.0. they are wayyyy easier to work on and have a larger aftermarket, the parts are also cheaper.

yeah its true but the thing is that if I got from a 5.0 from a 4.6 thats a dramatic loss of power, so its kind of scary to do that. Unless you bore it from a 281 to a 302 and gain instead of losing.

you can get a 5.0 for dirt cheap and make it faster than a new edge 4.6 for the same cost as a used stock 4.6. 5.0 FTMFW!!!
