SN95 Horsepower Question
I was looking at a sn95 mustang to buy either a 94-95 or 96-98. My question is which is easier to get power out of the 94-95/5.0 or the 96-98/4.6, I know both of them stock have relativly the has power output. But which on would be easier and cheaper to get to 300hp?
With the 5.0 I'm pretty sure you can just bolt on the AFR 165cc heads and add 100hp/80tq, is there any truth to that, anybody with experience?

The 5.0 definetly will be easier to get 300 hp out of. However, simply bolting on AFR's will not net you 100 hp. AFR's with a custom cam and new intake, along with some bolt ons and a tune will put you right around 300rwhp. Getting 300hp out of a 96-98 4.6 would be very challenging without FI.
Thanks for the advice guys, I was pretty sure that was the answer I was going to get. Also cold day in hell before I would want to attempt a head swap on a 4.6, scary thought, those things are gigantic. And I figured you couldn't just get to 300hp with new heads, I don't remember where I heard that you could get that much power just out of a head swap but the inproved air flow over the misreable E7's will help everything else out.
Question on the 4.6 though, I don't know near as much about it as the 5.0, what does the FI and PI mean?

P.I. stands for Performance Improved and it refers to the 99-04 GT 2 valve cylinder heads. FI stands for forced induction....in other words a turbocharger or supercharger.
