check the plug wires and make sure one of them is not cracked and shorting out the hot spark to the headers, sounds like this could be the trouble to me in addition to making sure the ground straps are attached to the motor and chassis.

could this be the problem too..im runnig the msd 6 on my 83 gt i got the dist wire from 83 going to chevelles dist ..also got coil wires run from same car,,and fuel pump so i can here it run ,,,,maybe i should get some jumper cables and ground the two cars together>>>>
