Quad shocks
I just replaced the rear shocks on my '01 GT with Fox body shocks and also updated my upper/lower CA's with Granatelli's. My question is....Should I take my quad shocks off or leave them on? What exactly do they do and would it hurt or benefit me to remove them??
Thanks

RE: Quad shocks
not to hijack but I am interested in this too.
I plan to replace my rear shocks and LCA's in the near future (weeks) and wonder if I can remove the rear sway bar even though I am not replacing the UCA's? Since I replaced my highflow catted Magnaflow X w/ O/R Bassani X my Magnaflow catback piping rubs the rear swaybar as it loops over the axle.
info please!!

RE: Quad shocks
The quad shocks are in place to prevent wheel hop, with the stock control arms. From what I have been told and read. The replacement of at least the lower control arms will allow the removal of the quads. Because aftermarket CA's are much stronger, they will not flex like the factory CA's, which contributes to wheel hop.
As for krs01gt, about the sway bar. It depends on what type of driving you will do. If you are just going strait line. You wont need the sway bar. If you like the road racing scene, the sway bar is a must. The sway bar helps eliminate body roll while going through the corners, which also helps keep all four tires on the ground allowing better handling through the corners.

RE: Quad shocks
Keep the sway bars. Safer overall, better handling and, besides, you aren't going to be living at the drags. Any daily driver should have the bars. As far as quads go, I'd keep them just in case you have the right combination of power and road conditions to cause any kind of rear wheel hop. That is exactly what they control. Too much wheel hop in the *** of your car and you can loose it. They weigh next to nothing so what the heck. When I put in my new Steeda sport springs I also did a complete shock swop at the same time. Tokico struts & shocks with KYB quads. Love the handling combo. Every driver has their own preferences for suspension set-up depending on how they drive their cars. I like controlled handling so I did what I did. You do what you think you need to do. Good luck!
