Default Faded Headlights

I just bought a 94 mustang and i was wondering if there was anyway to clean my faded headlights. The aren't very clear and as a result, its hard to drive at night. I looked into getting new ones, but the dealership tried to charge me 120 a piece. So how do I take them out and with what do I wash them with? Thanks

Is the 'faded' part on the inside or outside.

I use lots and lots of chrome polish when I wash my car to keep the headlights looking new. Unfortunately, Ford sucks and condensation can build up inside the lens and eventually it turns yellow or fades.

Hey analog-boy, My friend had the same problem but his car was a Thunderbird and the lights were pretty faded, so what he did and reccomended was take the covers off and sand them down with a very fine sand paper, it is the inside that is burnt and it causes the plastic to fade it's natural see through color. Very fine sand paper NOT the rough grit.

I am planning on doing mine this weekend, I too have a 94 GT and mine are super faded too, hardly see at night. I will try to take photos before and after.
Good luck.

i dont know about faded..but for the yellow you
sand with 120
then go to 600
then 1200 wet
then rubbing compound
then spray in clear coat
then polish
looks BETTER than new...
and this you do to the outside, maybe in and out would do a nice job

i have the same problem with my '98gt. i tried the wet-sand process (described in previous reply) on the GT and my '90t-bird, and there WAS a real improvement, but the lens continued to yellow and fog.

Go here: http://www.dvelup.com/profit/profitstore.html

I haven't tried this kit yet, but understand it includes a two-part compound to coat the lens after the polishing steps. I'd be interested to know how well it works.
