Default Taking out air vents?

Just like the title says, I'm trying to take out the air vents in the center of my dash (one is broken) do I have to remove any dash pieces or do they just pop straight out? I'm afraid of breaking something if I just try to pull them out.

you need 4 or 5 small flat bladed screwdrivers as there are plastic clips that hold the vent into the opening in the dash and you have to pry each one up a bit so the wedge on them clears the hole that they lock in to and then carefully pry along the edge of the vent with another screwdrive to pop it out of the hole it's in. you might be able to hold the clips up with some thin pieces of stiff plastic like the end of a plastic fork or spoon but it will take a screwdriver to pry them up so you can push the plastic under them to hold them up.
